Eire Og Promoted

Eire Og Seniors recorded a comprehensive victory over Cullyhanna side Dorsey Emmets on Sunday at Pinebank to pip Crossmaglen II and successfully gain promotion into Armagh County League Division III next season. The result of the match and 2 points were never in doubt after both Marc Fagan and Ciaran Fleming hit the two goals in the first half for the Craigavon side.

Congratulations go to the management of Conor Lavery and Pauric McKeever who managed the senior side this year and have mentored these young group of players into a higher division. In the 2nd half the bench was used well with Eoin Fleming, Nathan McConville, Paddy Mallon and Marty Hoey all scoring for the Ogs. In the run up to this match and during this game Stevie Burns, Mikey Doran and Eoin Daly have stood out with their dedication and attitude in driving the team on. Decky Wilson, Roy McGrath and Niall Curran defended well so as not to allow the Dorsey players to gain scores and Stevie Canning steped in well this year when he was asked to do nets for the absent Ryan Mallon.

The Eire Og seniors are under no illusions on the step up for next year but are looking forward to local derbies against the likes of St Pauls and Clonmore and they also gained confidence during the year in giving 2nd Division Wolfe Tones a competitive match in the North Armagh Pat McMahon Shield Final. However for the moment the Eire Og committee, management, players and all associated with the club can enjoy this bit of success and rest then regroup for the 2010 season.
