La na gClub celebrated in glorious sunshine Maghery Sean McDermott’s commemorated the founding of the GAA 125 years ago, in grand fashion on Sunday May 10th 2009. Under clear blue skies and drenched in sunshine, this gaelic footballing community on the shores of Lough Neagh came together to celebrate and enjoy a most memorable and proud milestone. Proceedings began with a special Mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Maghery. All football teams and those affiliated to the club turned out in our vibrant club colours, filling the chapel with an array of bright blue and yellow.
CELEBRATING CLG 125 IN YOUR CLUB – SUNDAY 10 MAY 2009
On Tuesday evening, in Clann Eireann, the four Lurgan GAA clubs launched their joint initiative on tackling the problem of drug and alcohol abuse. Among the guests at the launch were the four club chairmen; Malachy Heaney (North board chairman), Aileen Tohill (Ulster Co-ordinator), Armagh players Steven McDonnell and Captain Ciaran McKeever. Danny Murphy (Ulster Sec.), Brendan Murphy (National Co-ordinator of the GAA's ASAP programe) and John Moley (Armagh's co-ordinator).
