Eire Og Seniors

Clann Eireann seniors travelled to Ballyhegan for their opening game in Div. II.
The weather was perfect for football and a large crowd eagerly awaited the throw in, for the 2009 season to begin. The opening score went to Ballyhegan, a free, about 25 metres out which was lobbed over by Paddy McKeever. The visitors then pressed forward looking for their first score but some loose handling in the forward line let Ballyhegan off the hook until Daniel McKavanagh took a pass from John McLoughlin and scored a point from some 30 metres.

SEAN MAC DERMOTT’S GFC MAGHERY

League campaign off to a winning start

Maghery came away from Newtownhamilton on Sunday with two points in their pocket from the first outing in this year’s league. Although bright and sunny conditions prevailed, the fairly sprightly wind blowing down-field made its mark on the game – putting both teams off their stride in each half.

Kingscourt, Co Cavan, was the venue for an outstanding success story yesterday (Sunday 22nd February) for our lady handballers.

Clann Eireann had no less than 7 finalists representing Armagh in the Ulster Juvenile Championships - at U12, U14, and U17 grades. The U17 girls (Niamh McMahon and Sionainn McConville - U17 doubles and Maria Fitzsimmons -U17 singles) are "old hands" by now in the Championships, but it was just as sweet as before to be awarded another Ulster title.
