County News

It was a good weekend for North Armagh clubs in the Armagh Minor Championship with strong wins for Sarsfields, Clan Na Gael, Naomh Paedar (St Peters) and St Johns (Naomh Eoin).
Sarsfields had a 2.14 to 2.03 win against Pearse Og with the Lurgan Blues Clan Na Gael and reigning Armagh county league champions defeating Ballymacnab 3-10 to 2-08. St Johns who are an amalgamation of Annaghmore, Clonmore and Collegeland beat south Armagh side Mullabawn and St Peters beat Tir Na Og in Portadown with 4 points to spare.

All the North Board clubs should be proud of the rousing homecoming they give the Armagh All Ireland Minor champions on Tuesday night past. This group of players and their phenomenal success in 2009 deserved the rapturous welcome they received. From Annaghmore and the home of manager Kieran Robinson to the Loughshore and Kevin Nugent’s home of Maghery the bunting was out and the reception superb. A massive turnout at Portadown seen Marc Davidson getting the chance to bring the Tom Markham cup into the Tir Na Og clubrooms for all to see.
